Overview
of the Application Process
1. The institution submits a Membership
Application package to the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago.
Before beginning the application process, the applicant
may choose to have the FHLB Chicago review their institution's
assets to determine the extent to which those assets can
serve as collateral for FHLB Chicago advances.
2. The FHLB Chicago reviews the application for completeness.
3. Once the application is complete, FHLB Chicago staff determines whether the institution meets all statutory eligibility requirements and underwriting review standards. If additional justification is necessary, FHLB Chicago staff works with the institution to obtain it.
4. Once approved, FHLB Chicago staff works with the applicant's staff to make sure all necessary forms are submitted and the stock purchase is completed within 60 calendar days of approval.
