Biographies:

Niso AbuafPh. D, Managing Director, Financial Strategies
Niso Abuaf is Chief Economist and Strategist at Ramirez & Co., and Professor of Financial Economics at Pace University, having also taught at NYU’s Stern, and Chicago’s Booth. At Ramirez, Niso is responsible for developing balance sheet management and shareholder value maximization strategies for corporates, and for formulating the Firm’s macroeconomic outlook.

Niso has more than 35 years of Wall Street experience, having led R&D groups at Credit Suisse, Salomon Brothers/Citi, and J.P. Morgan Chase. Niso has advised blue-chip corporates (Amex, GE, Google, Prudential, Verizon) and sovereigns (Korea, Turkey) around the globe and has played leading roles in marquee capital raisings (Apple, Exelon, Facebook, Microsoft), and restructurings and M&A transactions (ATT, Repsol-YPF), and the development of an options market in Argentina. He is fluent in French, Spanish, and Turkish, and has a working knowledge of German and Italian.

When advising clients and formulating his strategies, Niso specializes in synthesizing the global macro outlook with econometric analysis, quantitative reasoning, and what-if scenario analysis.

Niso received a BS and MS in Electrical and Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern University, and an MBA and a PhD in Financial Economics from the University of Chicago. He is the author of numerous scholarly and professional publications and has lectured on a wide-range of topics including corporate finance and valuation, global macroeconomics, investment strategies, financial markets, and derivatives.

Duncan SinclairPh. D, Vice President, Capital Markets, Financial Strategies Group
Duncan Sinclair is Vice President in the Capital Markets and Financial Strategies groups at Ramirez & Co., and sits on the Investment Committee at Ramirez Asset Management. He works with clients on various topics in corporate finance, and is versed in many analytical techniques including machine learning, econometrics, data science, and statistics. He also provides research in rates and macroeconomics firm-wide and has authored papers on various topics within investing and corporate finance. While at Ramirez, Duncan has advised Google, HPE, Evergy, Duke, NextEra, Southern Company, Verizon, AT&T, Macy’s, Kroger’s, Pfizer, Goldman Sacks, Capital One, Credit Suisse, amongst others.

Formerly, Duncan was an associate at Charter Oak Financial Consultants, advising unsecured creditors in major bankruptcy cases, including Asarco and W.R. Grace. Duncan provided analysis on pricing for derivatives and valuation.

Prior to Charter Oak, Duncan obtained a PhD in Geometric Analysis from The Johns Hopkins University, specializing in heat flow methods. Duncan also obtained a BA in Mathematics from The University of Pennsylvania.
